Alliance of Croatian Associations in Slovenia

Alliance of Croatian Associations in Slovenia gathers 14 Croatian Associations, which annually create approx. 150 events in Slovenian cities. There are around 50.000 inhabitants of Croatian decent living in Slovenia at the moment. The Alliance organizes Council of Croatian Culture once per year, the next will be held on May 17, 2014. And within this event, typical handicrafts articles are presented as well as folklore along with genuine songs and typical Croatian dishes. It annually organizes a cultural celebration in June in order to celebrate independence of Republic of Croatia. The Alliance has for the past 11 years been organizing a cycling path titled "Friendship path Vukovar - Ljubljana", where approximately 30 cyclists of different age take part in a 4-day activity across 6 Croatian cities and 5 Slovene cities. This event promotes cooperation between Croatian and Slovenian citizens. The Alliance also publishes newspaper "Korijeni" twice a year and is raising awareness on the status of the Croatian national minority in Slovenia, presents activities of the Croatian Associations, including cultural and sports events. It also published an almanac in 2013 in order to celebrate the entrance of Republic of Croatia into European Union and was the only Croatian Alliance in the world, which has done this.
